Flights from Entebbe, visa guidance, shopping, desert safari and Abu Dhabi. Everything a Ugandan traveller should know before booking Dubai.

City7 min readFor travellers in Uganda

Dubai is the most popular city break for Ugandan travellers, and it is easy to see why. You get world-class shopping, huge malls, the Burj Khalifa, desert adventures and beaches in one trip, with a very good flight connection from Entebbe.

It also works for almost every kind of traveller: couples, families, friends on a shopping trip and business travellers adding a few days of leisure.

Getting there from Entebbe

Several airlines connect Entebbe with Dubai, with direct and one-stop options depending on the season. Dubai also acts as a hub for onward trips to Asia, so it combines well with a longer holiday. Entry requirements for Ugandan passport holders can change, so we guide you through the visa process and tell you what documents are needed before you pay for anything.

Best time to go

November to March is the coolest and most comfortable, which is also peak season. June to September is very hot, but hotel prices are much lower and the malls are air-conditioned. Eid and December are the busiest periods.

Things to do

  • Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. Go up the tower at sunset, then see the fountain show.
  • Desert safari. Dune driving, camel rides and a barbecue dinner under the stars.
  • Dubai Marina and JBR. Walk the waterfront, eat out and relax on the beach.
  • Shopping. The Gold and Spice souks, Mall of the Emirates and the festivals and sales seasons.
  • Abu Dhabi day trip. See Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Corniche. Many guests extend to a Dubai and Abu Dhabi combo.

Tips for Ugandan travellers

  • Dress modestly in malls and mosques. Beachwear is fine at beaches and pools.
  • Weigh your luggage if you are shopping, because baggage allowances differ by airline.
  • Ask us about hotels near the metro to save on taxis.
