A great holiday starts with the right paperwork. Many travellers from Uganda hit problems at the airport because a document was missing or expired.
Use this checklist before you book, and again a week before you travel.
Getting there from Entebbe
Passport: Check that it is valid for at least six months after your return date and has blank pages. If it is close to expiry, renew it before you book. Visa: Rules depend on your destination and change over time, so confirm the current process early. Many visas take several days or weeks to process.
Best time to go
Yellow fever certificate: Uganda is a yellow fever risk country, so many destinations ask to see the international vaccination certificate (the yellow card). Vaccinate at least ten days before you travel and carry the card. Travel insurance: Some visas require it, and it covers medical costs and cancellations.
Things to do
- Passport copies. Keep digital and printed copies separate from the original.
- Flight and hotel bookings. Print or save them for immigration questions.
- Bank cards and cash. Tell your bank where you are going and carry some US dollars.
- Medication. Carry prescriptions and keep medicine in your hand luggage.
- Emergency contacts. Save our WhatsApp and office numbers on your phone.
